How Often Should I Get A Brazilian Wax?

"I feel like I'm nothing but walking sex," said Carrie Bradshaw in one of the Sex and the City episodes, which introduced millions of women to the joys (and pains) of waxing your intimate bits as well as other parts of your body. In the past couple of years, waxing has become a grooming necessity for women who are looking for more effective and longer lasting results when it comes to hair removal. Whether you are getting a brazilian or your eyebrows, legs and underarms waxed, we all know the benefits of waxing regularly. But just how often do we need to get a wax to achieve the desired results of smooth skin and reduced hair growth without wasting our money?

The answer depends on a few factors such as how fast your hair grows, age, how long you have been waxing and the area you're getting waxed. On average, industry experts agree that waxing-on-waxing-off every three to six weeks is most optimal for consistent results. The more regular and religious you are with your appointments, the weaker the hair follicles become, making it easier (less painful!) to remove, and increasing the time between treatments (read: less money spent in the long run).

It is recommended that you wait until your hair is about a quarter of an inch long (which happens approximately in 4 weeks), but if you have an emergency like a hot new date or a hot old date, you can come in earlier in your hair growth cycle but do not cave to shaving (!!).

So, while a waxing sesh may not be one of your favorite free-time activities, adhering to a regular waxing schedule will help you keep your skin smooth for longer and every next sesh less painful.
